Rihanna was the center of attention in the beauty world last week. First, her brand Fenty Beauty unveiled Fenty Eau de Parfum, a new luxury fragrance. A true embodiment of Rihanna, the bottle was designed to fit perfectly in her hand and represents a harmonious balance of femininity and masculinity, vintage and modern, with its curved body and amber-brown shade. Later in the week, Rihanna became a billionaire—and the bulk of her fortune is from Fenty Beauty, which generated more than $550 million in revenue in 2020, according to Forbes. Rihanna’s new status makes her the wealthiest female musician in the world—second only to Oprah Winfrey as the richest female entertainer. In other news, British e-commerce company The Hut Group agreed to purchase online beauty retailer Cult Beauty for £275 million ($382.91 million). UK-based Cult Beauty stocks over 300 brands, including Drunk Elephant, Charlotte Tilbury, Huda Beauty and Kate Somerville—many of which have no other presence of THG existing beauty sites. Lastly, P&G announced that Jon R. Moeller, vice chairman and chief operating officer, will succeed David Taylor as the company’s president and chief executive officer, effective November 1, 2021.
